This collection of articles represents in great measure the theological response of centrist Orthodoxy a generation after, and represents a rejection of the "God's judgment theory." It contains a wealth of material, some of them classic pieces long unavailable and many written for this volume by distinguished Orthodox thinkers. Among the former are an English translation of Rabbi J. B. Soloveitchik's "Kol Dodi Dofek: It Is the Voice of My Beloved" and Dr. Norman Lamm's "The Face of God: Thoughts on the Holocaust." Among the latter are articles by Rabbi Emanuel Rackman, Haskel Lookstein, Louis Bernstein, Reuven P. Bulka, Emanuel Feldman, Dr. Eliezer Berkovits, as well as the editors themselves.
